Certificate in Auctioneering and Estate Agency; Diploma in Property Management and Valuation

Aim

The purpose of the certificate course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding to be successful in their first employment as negotiators, valuers and property managers with auctioneering firms, financial institutions, national and multi national companies etc.

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate (pass in five subjects to include Maths and English) with at least two grades D at Higher Level or Grades A or B at ordinary Level may be considered. Intending students should be aware that there is an element of mathematical skill required to complete the course. In addition to the above, all intending first year students will be required to produce a letter from a practising agent stating that work experience will be provided in the second year of the course.

  • Application forms can be obtained directly from the college or can be downloaded here
  • Return completed application form along with 1 stamped self-addressed postcard to Admissions Office, Cork College of Commerce, Morrison's Island, Cork
  • The self-addressed stamped postcard is returned to the student with the College stamp on it as proof of receipt of the applicaition form.
  • At the start of August a letter is posted to the applicant requesting him/her to attend for an interview on a certain time and date.
  • Within one week after the interview the applicant will receive a letter informing them of the outcome of their interview. If successful, the applicant will receive information regarding their induction date and commencement date.

    Course Content

    PROGRESSION-DIPLOMA AND DEGREE STAGES

    The Diploma in Property Management and Valuation is designed to prepare the student to carry out the professional role of managers of property assets within the business environment. Students will be required to attain at least a Grade C in each of the following key areas of study (at Certificate level)- Valuation, Professional Practice, the Regulatory Environment and Building.

    There is no automatic right of progression to the Diploma stage.

    Students who successfully complete the Diploma in Property Management and Valuation may transfer to the final year of a BSc (Hons) in Real Estate, Valuation and Management in the University of the West of England.
